Learn about Uncover Commerce's director Matt in our 'Meet the team' Q&A series. Matt shares Spectre's origin story and some incredible life and travel pictures.

Tell us a little bit what you were doing before joining Uncover Commerce

I started Uncover Commerce with Nana while studying, between college and university. Before this, I had been working a variety of jobs in the hospitality industry. I had left high school without a clear idea of what I wanted to do. I found work, bars, restaurants and hotels mainly. It was great fun. I met a lot of amazing people and had a lot of good times. I saved up some money and went to travel, trying to find what I wanted to do with my life. I met a software engineer in a hostel garden, working, and he told me about his job. It was because of that conversation that I applied to a software development course at college. I did the entrance interview in a train station in Brussels and the rest is history.

What’s your favourite thing about what you do?

My favourite thing about what I do is being able to work with my best mate and an amazing team every day. It's a pretty cool thing to be able to do. The team is what makes our business great and being able to grow with them, learn with them and deliver amazing results for our clients is awesome.

What do you do in your free time?

I spend most of my free time at the moment with my 1 year old son. Being able to spend time with him is the best thing in the world. Otherwise I fill my time with cooking, woodworking and listening to audio books (when the wee man sleeps).

What do you do to turn things around when you’re having a bad day?

When I am having a bad day I try to reframe my day by finding something that I would consider a win. Something simple like going to the gym or cooking a good meal.

What is the most unbelievable thing that’s ever happened to you?

I met my Belgian wife in a bar in Budapest. We had a long distance relationship for over 2 years and now we are married with a kid over 10 years later. Life can surprise you

Which actor would play you in a movie about your life?

I would want Christian Bale to play me in a movie about my life. I think he is a great actor and I really respect a lot of the work he has done in his career. That would be pretty cool. I mean he was Batman after all.

What’s one song you have completely memorised?

Powderfinger - My Happiness

What’s the first concert you ever went to?

My first concert I went to was in the Barrowlands in Glasgow. The band was Alkaline Trio and it was an amazing night.
